Church Community Worker
An exciting and well-funded opportunity to work in a developing church and community environment. This is a full-time permanent post, starting in Autumn 2014. Trinity is a busy church in the middle of a lively urban environment. It already has youth and community activities well established; toddlers, community café, uniformed organisations. In the Autumn of 2014 it will also become the home for other community groups re-locating to Trinity from their present places: scouts, pre-school and after school services, more toddlers, supplementary school for maths and English, and a project for adults with serious learning difficulties. A major re-development programme is under way to enable these activities to move in. The post-holder will act as the community champion at Trinity, explore how the church can serve the community and promote new ventures where a need is agreed. This post is an opportunity to develop the work of the existing and new organisations, assist their integration, and find ways to enable engagement with the life of the church. The post-holder is not expected to run any or all of these activities, but to facilitate their effective work, support them in the quality development of their activities, support volunteers and manage communications among them and with the wider community. For a pack about the post (including an application form), please apply to Sheila Mappin, sheila001@blueyonder.co.uk To discuss the post, please phone either Rev Katie Leonowicz, on 0114 229 4707, or Rev Ian Lucraft on 0114 234 7153. Closing date for applications will be 31 July 2014. We plan to interview in the week commencing Tuesday 26 August. We plan to appoint for a start in September/October 2014 to be agreed.
